IT'S a fact that 1972 was the best year ever for pop music. Just ask anyone over 50.
And these two glam rock groups were giants in the charts 40 years ago.

Although the glitter, sequins, make-up and weird and wonderful outfits have disappeared – shame – the music lives on.
An enthusiastic audience greeted Sweet and Slade at the Lighthouse, Poole, on Saturday night.
First up were Sweet, with Andy Scott remaining from the glory days. Their brash, loud, incessant rock riffs sounding as fresh as ever. They mixed other material between their hits and no-one seemed to mind.
At one stage, Love Is Like Oxygen morphed into Fanfare For The Common Man. Not surprisingly, Blockbuster and Ballroom Blitz got the most applause.
Slade still boast Dave Hill and Don Powell from the original line-up. But there's no Noddy Holder.
The band are still as raucous and fun as ever, belting out hits such as Cum On Feel The Noize, Take Me Bak 'Ome and super hit Merry Xmas Everybody.
I've still got a lasting image of a group of over-50s, stomping and chanting along to Sweet's "recognise your age, it's the teenage rampage".
As Slade sang "Mama Weer All Crazee Now." Top Stuff.
