Bournemouth Echo: Grooves on the Green competition

8 band slots up for grabs at Grooves on the Green festival 2015!

The search for the region's freshest new musical talent is on.

The Daily Echo has joined forces with Poole community festival, Grooves On The Green (July 11 & 12) to find and promote the best unsigned musicians in the local area.

The Calling will you give the opportunity to be heard by 270,000 unique users every single week.

If you're a local musician, then you can submit your MP3 with a short bio and picture below.

All acts must include a name, location and contact email address and be available to perform at Grooves on the Green festival on either July 11 or 12.

Tracks won't appear straight away as they go into a moderation queue, so don't panic if you can't see your song in the playlist.

Every month there will be a public vote and a panel of judges who will pick two acts from the most popular musical talent.

The monthly winners will win a place on The Calling Stage at Grooves On The Green festival.

Prize does not include travel, accommodation and refreshments.

All usual terms and conditions apply and can be found at bournemouthecho.co.uk/terms.

The Calling Stage will be hosted by Si Genaro, fresh from his recent appearance on the BBC's The Voice, which resulted in Will.i.am giving Si his email address and insisting they stay in touch.

The two-day, family-friendly gathering on Ashley Cross Green features music on two stages with other attractions including a local food and drink festival, sports on the Green, alternative therapies and the popular Kidzone with lots of activities to keep the youngest groovers happy.

The remaining bands and musicians registered with The Calling will find themselves featured on our online playlist, which has been designed to showcase the budding local music scene.

Dorset has been a hotbed for music talent over the years producing stars such as PJ Harvey, Blur's Alex James and Perrie Edwards from Little Mix.

More recently Bournemouth's James McVey has had considerable chart success with his band The Vamps.
