Lykke Li – I Never Learn (Atlantic) With two stellar albums behind her, Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li returns with a third, and it’s just as strong.
This is a break-up album, an LP which makes you realise you’re not the only one who’s had a hard time in the relationship stakes.
If you’ve heard the single No Rest For The Wicked you'll know what to expect; reverb-heavy vocals over unobtrusive piano and drums.
On power-ballad, Gunshot, the drum beats that little bit harder and Heart Of Steel is almost gospel, but for the most part it’s a bit of a misery-fest.
Yet like a comfort blanket, the songs make you feel like everything’s going to be okay.
At times the lyrics are bleak, but the warmth with which they’re delivered ultimately makes this album a soothing listen – one to simply wrap yourself up in and make life feel better.
