WITH both eyes obscured by a smearing of red paint on the cover of his second album Demonstration, Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu, better known as his moniker Tinie Tempah, wants to make the music the sole focus.
Gone are the snappy specs and smart suit (he appears to be stripped of clothes), meaning Tempah – who was named Britain’s best-dressed man by GQ magazine in 2011 – is definitely making his statement.
Coming three years after his debut Disc-Overy, which turned Pass Out, Frisky and Written In The Stars into hits, Demonstration features collaborations with Ella Eyre, 2 Chainz, Labrinth and Laura Mvula.
There are references about coming to terms with fame – on Children Of The Sun, Looking Down The Barrel and Lover Not A Fighter – but above all, the hip-hop beats and cool rhymes on opening track Someday (Place In The Sun), Trampoline and Witch Doctor show off his evolved sound.
