FRESH from his scheduled appearance on Friday night’s Later With Jools Holland alongside the likes of Foo Fighters and Jay-Z, Canadian guitar virtuoso Erik Mongrain plays Mr Kyps, Poole, on Sunday.

His unique two-handed lap-tapping technique on acoustic guitar has earned him more than four million views on YouTube and several international viewership awards.

Having taught himself to play by ear at the age of 14, Erik started out on electric guitar inspired by Metallica, Hendrix and Kurt Cobain, but developed an interest in classical and acoustic guitar after hearing Bach.

Also booked at Mr Kyps is singer-songwriter Amy Studt, the former Dorset schoolgirl who scored a top ten hit with Misfit in 2002 then faded from view. She released a second album on the quiet last year, but has since been writing new material and preparing a full return. She plays Kyps on November 15.
