REGGAE legend Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry will be appearing at this year’s Wilkswood Reggae Festival.

Tickets are now on sale for the three-day event, know to fans as Dubwood, which is scheduled for a 600-acre farm on the outskirts of the Purbeck village of Langton Matravers.

Also performing at the event will be dub titan Mad Professor, roots stalwart Earl 16 and lover’s rock queen Carroll Thompson, both backed by the Uppercut Band.

Local heroes Dubheart and Countryman Sound System will keep the reggae energy flowing too. There will also be an impressive range of peripheral activities over the course of the weekend, with the Jamaican poet Kei Miller a sure-fire spoken-word highlight of the fringe stage, as well as roundtable discussions with performing artists.

A festival spokesman said: “The Wilkswood Reggae Festival returns to the unparalleled beauty of southern England’s Jurassic Coast for another edition of ‘Peace, dub and harmony in the woods by the sea.’

“This family-run, family-friendly festival saw its audience capacity quadrupled between the initial festival of 2016 and the second annual staging last year, and this third edition promises to be the biggest and best edition yet.

“Affectionately known as Dubwood for its regular inclusion of sound systems and dub-oriented strands, the Wilkswood Reggae Festival was founded by Dubwood Productions, an offshoot of the award-winning Bournemouth-based Dubheart band.

“Dubwood’s partner is another stalwart of the local community, namely Simon Coppack of the Scott Arms, situated in the nearby village of Kingston

The festival takes place at Wilkswood Farm, Langton Matravers, from July 20-22.
