JULES O’RIORDAN, better known as Judge Jules, calls order in the Canvas court next Friday. Suzi Dixon has a brief history of this superstar DJ for the jury...

In any music genre, a career spanning more than 30 years is one to be feted, let alone one that has yielded more than 100 tracks.

Jules is the latest in a long line of superstar DJs to headline at Canvas in Poole Hill. (Craig Charles is a regular and A:Skillz and Norman Jay have both played recently).

Jules is one of the select crew of super-DJs to have crossed over into commercial success consistently since the 1990s. Even if nightclubs are not your thing, you may have heard him on his Kiss FM or Radio 1 shows. Now, he has moved with the times to present The Global Warm Up, a podcast that regularly tops 750,000 downloads.

His accolades include Best DJ (Mixmag), Best International DJ (Dancestar Awards), Best Radio DJ (Smirnoff’s Dancestars), and is a constant in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll.

He first hit the decks in 1987 and followed the glittered path of Global Gathering, Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound and, of course, Ibiza residencies.

And he’s not slowing down. Instead, he’s continuing to innovate, taking the Judgement brand to the next level in the form of a record label, and UK tour beyond Bournemouth to influence a whole new generation of dance music lovers.

He’s still standing in Ibiza, with Judgement Fridays at Eden running from June until September since 2015. He’s been a Balearics mainstay for 16 years.

And yes, he’s a real judge specialising in music law and advising labels and artists on contractual matters. For tickets for Friday, April 13 gig, see canvasbournemouth.com.
