A 16-YEAR-OLD student is organising, hosting and playing in his very own charity music festival in Bournemouth next month.

Callum Gough managed to arrange a venue, a variety of bands from across the UK as well as all the promotional side and advertisements whilst completing his GCSE examinations.

“It wasn’t too stressful, it was more of a welcome break from the pressure of exams,” says Callum who attends Lytchett Minster School.

“I’ve always wanted to be in the music industry and I got the opportunity to work at this year’s Teddy Rocks Festival in Blandford as a sound engineer.

“I loved the atmosphere and I loved the idea of raising money through music which got me thinking about organising a charity festival in Bournemouth.”

Callum who is the lead guitarist in his own alt-rock band Laika, is hoping to raise £500 for the children’s cancer charity Teddy20.

“I’ve always loved rock music - I think it is more expressive emotionally and much more powerful than other genres.”

The Burned Out Festival will be held at The Anvil opposite The Old Fire Station in Old Christchurch Road on Saturday, August 12. Doors open at 6pm.

The line up for this summer festival includes the up and coming pop-rock band Shaded, Leeds-based pop punk trio High Visions, local melodic metal core band, As Flames Rise, as well as Laika.

The headline act at the festival is Create To Inspire from Essex.

All of the proceeds of the Burned Out Festival are going to Teddy20. Tickets are £5 in advance available at SeeTickets.com or £8 on the door.
