SOME of Dorset’s best known performers are gathering together for a special tribute to the late George Michael at a charity extravaganza next month.

The ‘ Too Funky’ event at Canvas in Bournemouth ,is to celebrate the singer’s legacy, organised by Bournemouth businessman Darren Northeast.

He said: “As every month in 2016 seemed to bring us yet another celebrity loss, the year came to a sad end with the premature death of singer George Michael.

“However, he left a legacy of wonderful work which will ensure his memory and his music live on.

“Now that legacy is being celebrated in the ‘Too Funky’ Charity Extravaganza.”

Darren revealed they have been “overwhelmed” by the response to the ‘Too Funky’ event.

He added: “Tickets are just flying out. It’s amazing and a testament to how George Michael’s music touched so many people. It’s going to be a fantastic, fun and, of course, funky night!”

The Too Funky Charity Extravaganza takes place on Thursday, February 2, at 7.30pm until 1am at Canvas in Poole Hill.

The event will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation and Childline.
