ONE of Britain’s biggest musical stars is set to perform in Bournemouth in his first-ever open-air concert in Dorset.

Olly Murs, who rose to fame following his appearance on X Factor, will perform an outdoor concert at Kings Park on Saturday, August 5, as part of a series of open-air performances being held throughout the summer across the country.

Tickets for the Bournemouth show go on sale at 10am this Friday.

The popular singer-songwriter boasts record sales exceeding 10 million, and up to 10,000 fans are expected to descend on the park for the special event.

Mr Murs said: “I’m so pleased to be playing Bournemouth again. It is one of my favourite places and an outdoor gig is always something very special.

“I’m also glad to give fans who weren’t able to get BIC tickets the chance to see the show – which is spectacular.”

The X Factor runner-up is also appearing in Bournemouth on March 28 as part of a 21-date spring arena tour. The event, at the BIC, sold out in hours.

He has this month secured a fourth consecutive number one album with his latest collection 24 Hrs.

Included in the new album is single Years and Years as well as the popular radio tunes You Don’t Know Love and Grow Up - which was recently performed on the current series of the X Factor.

Other top singles include Dance With Me Tonight, Troublemaker, Heart Skips A Beat and Dear Darlin’.

Essex-born Olly, 32, shot to fame on the X Factor in 2009 finishing second to Joe McElderry with Stacey Solomon in third.
