SCOTTISH rock band Simple Minds will be unplugged and in Poole next summer to celebrate their first acoustic album.

‘Simple Minds Acoustic’ is a one-off album, due to be released on Friday, of stripped down and reimagined songs, spanning their 30 year career.

Tickets for the summer tour will be on sale from 10am on Thursday November 10. The band will be joined by special guest The Anchoress.

Simple Minds exploded on the music scene in the 1980s and are responsible for some of the most enduring anthems in rock/pop music including Alive and Kicking, Glittering Prize, Promised You A Miracle, Sanctify Yourself and their number one smash Belfast Child.

In their new album the synths are no more – but the Celtic soul remains. The album sessions entailed a sentimental return to their Glasgow roots for singer Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill. Some songs were recorded in Gorbals Studio, a former railway workers’ social club where the pair played their first gig, as teenagers, in a school glam-rock band.

The band’s frontman Jim Kerr says: “The concert stage is where Simple Minds do their best work - it is where we forged our distinctive live reputation. For that reason we look forward immensely to taking ‘Simple Minds Acoustic’ out on tour. Don’t be fooled by the acoustic tag, however! These shows will be as energetic and passionate as ever.”

Jim added: “With a great live line-up and a set-list full of iconic Minds songs, it is bound to be a unique and memorable experience for both band and fans. See you there!” Simple Minds will at Lighthouse Poole on Friday June 2 2017. To book tickets, visit gigst.rs/sm
