A SOARING three nights of music with headline acts Travis, and Example and DJ Wire have been announced for the Wave 105 Night Air stage, at Boscombe Pier next month.

Wave 105’s programme of Bournemouth Air Festival Night Air At The Piers entertainment is sponsored by Shorefield Holiday Parks, and will run across three nights (Thursday 18, Friday 19 and Saturday, August 20) offering a range of music to suit all tastes and ages, supported by stunning night flying displays.

Travis will play Night Air’s Friday evening family pop night Hits on the Beach.

Currently celebrating their 20th anniversary, Travis are one of Britain’s most successful bands of the last 20 years, clocking up 18 Top 40 hits and eight albums, two of which won “Best British Album” at the Brit Awards.

One of these, The Man Who, went nine times platinum selling over three million copies in the UK alone and making it one of the biggest selling albums ever.

They’ve headlined Glastonbury, V Festival and the Isle of Wight Festival and now they’re coming to Bournemouth beach. More artists will be announced by Wave 105 over the coming weeks.

Dance music returns to Night Air At The Piers for the second year running on Saturday August 20, under a new name Sunsets On The Beach - The Official Air Festival Beach Party.

Wave 105 has teamed up with Halo to present headliners Example and DJ Wire, with support from club and chart stars Blonde, plus DJ’s Jaguar Skills and Majestic - a line up guaranteed to get the crowd dancing on the sand against the backdrop of the setting sun over Boscombe beach.

Proms on the Beach, hosted by Wave 105’s Kate Weston, returns to Night Air for the second year running on Thursday August the 18th. After hugely positive feedback last year, The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Collingwood return for a very British affair by the water’s edge.

Keith Penny, Wave 105 Event Director, said: “Wave 105’s Night Air concerts are now a staple part of the events calendar in Bournemouth. The Air Festival’s stunning illuminated night flying displays over the bay, combined with top class music on the beach, is a unique experience that the public and artists really enjoy in equal measure. We can’t wait to reveal the full line-up for evening entertainment that will complement the outstanding daytime programme at the Air Festival.”

Crowned last year’s Visit England’s Tourism Event of the Year, the 2016 Air Festival will host thrilling demonstrations from leading aviation groups, including the Red Arrows, RN Black Cats Helicopter Display Team and Tigers Freefall Parachute Display Team. Only displaying at Bournemouth and one other this year, the Super Puma Display Team has just been announced as a new addition to the 2016 show.

Jon Weaver, Air Festival Director, said: “Bournemouth Air Festival is much more than an air show it’s the UK’s best aviation festival. Wave 105 Night Air is a fun, family friendly event that offers a little something for everyone. The team at Wave 105 will once again be hosting the fun-filled nights of music on the beach. Delivering huge names over the years, I for one am excited to find out more.”
