IN an incredible career spanning over seven decades, pop icon Petula Clark is making her way downtown to the Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre on October 17.
She is the best selling British female artist in recording history selling over 68 million records worldwide and to this day regularly tours throughout the world.
Petula became the first UK female artist to win a Grammy in 1964 with Downtown for Best Rock n Roll Record (Downtown hit number one in the US selling over three million copies) and won her second Grammy the following year, 1965, for Best Female Vocal Performance with I Know A Place.
One of the key players in the British Invasion alongside The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, she scored 15 consecutive US top forty hits, and paved the way for female British artists ever since.
This UK tour accompanies a new album titled From Now On, which is due for release in September. The album is a refreshing and inspiring collection of songs that draws upon various influences from Petula’s canvas and astonishing career.
The show will feature many of Petula’s classic hits, such as Downtown, This Is My Song and I Know A Place, as well as a selection from her new album.
