TRANSATLANTIC indie band Big Deal are following their Depeche Mode European arena tour dates and festival slots with their own headline show that visits The Winchester in Bournemouth on Friday night.

And the tour comes as they release their third full-length album this week.

Say Yes is the long-awaited follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed June Gloom.

It’s been a remarkable few years for Califiornian Kacey Underwood and Londoner Alice Costelloe, the duo behind Big Deal.

After meeting in 2010 when Kacey taught Alice some songs on guitar, the twists and turns of their ongoing relationship has been documented via their catalogue of intense rock-pop songs.

According to Underwood, the release of the new album has been a long time coming with the results being “really mature, like a good wine.”

He added: “In the past we were rushing things because we had to record and release music very quickly, but with the third album we had up to two years to make it, so we went away to think about what we wanted.”

Having received widespread praise for their first two albums, the band were invited to join Depeche Mode on tour.

“Something clicked for us during that time,” they explain.

“Touring with them made us realise we had been hiding when we should be stepping in to the light.”

Now a four piece, Costelloe adds that Big Deal is more than excited to be back in Bournemouth since playing Sixty Million Postcards a couple of years ago.

“We’re gonna try and make everyone happy with bits from all three albums.”
