DURAN Duran have announced the release of their new album in September followed by a UK arena tour that includes a show at the BIC on Wednesday, December 9, 2015.

The album, called Paper Gods, is released on September 11.

It will feature special guests including American singer Janelle Monáe, former Red Hot Chilli Peppers guitarist John Frusciante and Canadian singer Kiesza, whose hit single Hideaway topped the UK charts last year. Top producers including Nile Rodgers and Mark Ronson have also worked on the album.

Describing the musical direction of Paper Gods, bassist John Taylor said: “It really goes back to that strange early Duran mix: the hard-edged pop, coexisting with this dark, weird, experimental side.”

Keyboardist Nick Rhodes, added: “It’s great to be able to lift people’s spirits with a strong shot of pure pop, but the world we live in isn’t all just made of that stuff, so it seems natural to me that we have kept one foot in the darker, more Gothic side of life.”

Formed in Birmingham in 1978, Duran Duran are one of the most culturally influential and commercially successful bands of all time, topping the charts around the world over the past three decades and selling more than 100 million records worldwide.

The band has been honoured with multiple Grammy, BRIT and Ivor Novello awards, as well as an MTV Video Music Lifetime Achievement Award and 20th Century Style Icon award from the City of Milan. Tickets are on general sale on Friday, June 19 from 9am.
