IT seems apt that one of the most original musicians in Bournemouth should team up with one of the most original new venues. Saturday evening sees eclectic local musician Momo:tempo launch his new album at the recently opened Jalarra on Poole Hill, Bournemouth.

Momo:tempo is the musical alter-ego of man about town Timo Peach and the show will also feature the live horns and percussion of the Momo:tempo Electro Pops Orchestra. Fusing influences from across electronic music, film and theatre, the new album Thespionage is a cinematic romp of iconic tunes and joyous grooves.

“I really can't wait to share the LP with everyone, and especially to launch it with the first ever showcase party night at Jalarra. It is really going to be show to be at,” says Timo.

So what led to this collaboration between Momo and Jalarra?

“They asked me in, out of the blue, and kindly showed me around the refurbishment. It is a really vibey place that will be a fab location to share a Momo show, and a great place to celebrate together.

“We'll be sharing a number of tunes brand new to Thespionage as well as some other splendid new surprises and guests. All of us in the Electro Pops Orchestra are so damned excited about it; can't wait. And I can't wait to hear how people enjoy the LP afterwards over the summer. It is work I love, summed up in its title - a fusion of electronic music, film and theatre,” added Timo.

Taking place in Bournemouth's hottest new music space and cafe bar (the building was formerly Bumbles before being hugely refurbished), it promises to be an atmospheric evening of theatrical character and originality - in both the music and the setting. Tony and Lisa Perkins the team behind Jalarra, have been in the events and live music industry for over 30 years, working around the world with some of the greatest names in live entertainment.

“Our extensive refurbishment has brought a new lease of life to the old Bumbles venue, at the top of the Triangle - Bournemouth's up & coming, trendy regeneration zone. We've created a great space for both musicians and audiences - & now we're ready to open the doors & have some fun,” says Tony Perkins.

“Jalarra is for like-minded people that enjoy having somewhere in town where they feel safe and comfortable.

We hope to re-introduce the concept of “going out in the evening” rather than “staying up all night”. Bringing back the good times, when you could meet up with friends in the town centre without being the only ones out before midnight. When going out after work meant just that.”
