BOURNEMOUTH’S TV choirmaster, Gareth Malone, right, embarks on a 14-date UK tour this year, visiting the BIC on June 7.

After a nationwide search earlier this year for accomplished young singers, Gareth has assembled the country’s finest young talent and their debut album Voices has just been released.

Get ready to sing from your seat as Gareth invites you to be part of his first live tour.

He has previously topped the album and single charts with the Military Wives and had a Christmas number one hit, as well as receiving an OBE.

His popular BBC shows The Choir and Sing While You Work (now in its second series on BBC2) have seen him take total first-timers to levels of extraordinary success and have led to a nationwide revival in community singing.

He moved to Bournemouth with his family from London at the age of 10 and was a member of the orchestra at King’s Park Junior School.

He performed in a production of Evita at Bournemouth Pavilion when he was 11 and says his love of choirs began at grammar school.

While living in Bournemouth he joined Gli Amici Della Musica and became a member of Bournemouth Symphony Chorus at 18. He studied drama at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, where he sang in the choir and composed music for theatre shows.

He went on to postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London and his TV appearances began with The Choir in 2007.

Now 38, Gareth lives with his wife and baby daughter in London and often visits his parents in Bournemouth.

n Tickets for the June date are now on sale.
