Strangeface Theatre Company celebrated 10 years of touring at Christmas with a new adaptation of The Amazing Adventures of Pinocchio based on the original story by Carlo Collodi.

It features madcap scrapes from the original puppet in a pickle.

When Lytchett Minster School suffered a devastating fire over the Christmas break for the second time in twelve years, the shock and disbelief felt by staff and pupils was quickly replaced with energy and determination, fuelled by strong support from the community.

With the creative art block and Gainsford Theatre completely destroyed by the blaze, the school would have been forgiven for cancelling any events in the near future.

However, for the touring production of The Amazing Adventures of Pinocchio set to appear at the school on January 31 through Artsreach, Dorset’s rural touring scheme, this is not the case.

The school has worked closely with Artsreach and Strangeface Theatre Company, with senior staff determined that the fire would not cause any further disruption, and as such, the production will still take place in an alternative venue on the school site.

Artsreach promoter for the area Claire Ames says: “I think putting on the show would be a really positive thing for the school.”

Please note that due to the change in location, tickets may be limited and booking is advised. Performances are on January 31, 7pm at Lytchett Minster School, 01202 622413.
