As an unashamed Lego gaming enthusiast, I confess the tried-and-tested formula has been wearing slightly thin over recent titles.

It didn't help that the Lego Movie was painfully under-fed while Lego Batman 3 suffered from bloat levels that'd disgust a Diplodocus.

Jurassic World is four tidy square meals of, granted, the usual fare, but the stories make for a more engaging romp, and trampling puny humans while piloting a 65 million-year-old killing machine is a nice touch.

Other amusing attributes involve Ellie Sattler's penchant for rummaging through dino-poo, Lex Murphy shattering glass with her face-melting screams and Handler Bob with his electric dino-prod.

Like the Lord of the Rings entries, Jurassic World rips its dialogue straight from the films and is occasionally unclear, particularly when mumblepants Jeff Goldblum gets in on the action.

There are two islands' worth of playground extras, amber bricks with which to customise dinosaurs, random weather patterns and day-night cycles within the hubs, plus jolly little nods to Spielberg classics dotted around the places, with the director also popping up as a playable minifigure.

Dino-might indeed.
