  • Jenny Davies sent us this picture of her Jack Russell, Basil, helping with the Garden Birdwatch. He was very diligent and sat there for almost the whole hour!
  • John Barter took this picture of a fieldfare from his dining room window in Throop
  • Sue Marsden caught this troop of sparrows (actually it's a quarrel or a host of sparrows)in her pyracanthus in Canford Heath, Poole
  • This beauty was spotted by Mel Bray in his garden in Winton. Redwing are winter visitors from Scandinavia and easily recognised by the white stripes over their eyes.
  • Sent in by Tess and Diarmuid Murphy, from Mudeford
  • Sent in by Sara Yeoman, from Dorchester, who says: This is my favourite Robin. Everyday he waits for me to come and feed him, and he sings to me while he waits for me to transfer
from my wheelchair to the wheelchair I use in my garden.
  • Alex McLaughlin sent this picture of a sparrowhawk in his Northbourne garden. (We've blurred out the bird he's eating so as not to upset anyone.)
  • Ann Penn sent this picture of a sparrowhawk in her back garden in Mudeford.
  • This fat little fellow was sent in by Peter Jones, from Parkstone. Birds often look fatter in the winter as they puff their feathers up to keep themselves warm.
  • Herb Williams caught this nuthatch feeding in his garden in West Parley
  • Pauline Sherred sent us this picture, taken in Northbourne, of a heron standing on a roof.
  • Sue Brode sent us this picture, taken in Bournemouth gardens. We think it's a buzzard, but we're not sure!
