The only two girls in a master chef competition grabbed the top two places.
Shaylan Bowerman from Bournemouth and Elizabeth Burrows from Buckinghamshire, both 19, were winner and runner-up in the contest at Bournemouth and Poole College’s School of Hospitality and Food.
The 10 entrants took part in a timed “cook-off” to create a dish using a main ingredient of salmon and cooked it in a variety of ways including en croute, in ravioli parcels and steamed.
“The girls definitely reigned victorious,” said lecturer Adrian Martin. “Competitions like this are an integral part of the student’s education and help prepare them for their future in this demanding industry.”
Applications are being taken for courses in September and more details are available by calling 01202 205205.
