STRONG wind has left some residents without power with ferries cancelled as well.

A weather warning for gusty winds and heavy rain was issued by the Met Office and came into force at 2pm yesterday.

It has now been lifted after an update this morning by the Met Office. However, conditions will remain windy for the rest of today.

Overhead cables were brought down in Wimborne overnight, leaving 27 homes without power.

A spokesperson for SSE apologised for the inconvenience and said they were working to restore power as soon as possible.

Condor Ferries cancelled Tuesday's Condor Liberation cross channel service and return between Poole and Guernsey.

And there were also delays on Wightlink from Lymington due to the high winds.

On the A35 there was a fallen tree near Holmsley junction, northbound between Christchurch and Lyndhurst.

And residents in the Lymington area also suffered a power cut.

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service warned people to take extra care on the roads due to fallen branches.
