A WEATHER warning for ice and potentially some snowfall has been issued across Dorset - but the chances of seeing snow are unlikely for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

UPDATE: Readers have reported snow in Blandford, Broadstone, Wareham, Creekmoor, Ferndown, and Fordingbridge - but there's not much of it...

Vikki Slade, who runs Mollys Cafe in Broadstone. said "We've had a few little sprinkles of snow and the sky is looking very yellow and heavy."

Forecasters at the Met Office issued the yellow weather warning this morning, covering from 3pm today until 11am on Friday.

The agency said showers during Thursday afternoon and evening could fall as sleet, snow and hail and could settle on high ground.

“Most areas are unlikely to see large amounts of snow but icy stretches are likely to form on untreated surfaces”, the Met Office spokesperson said.

Ice is more likely to be a hazard locally, as temperatures feel like as little as -3C.

Sleet is forecast for Bournemouth at 10pm this evening and 5am on Friday and for Blandford at 3pm, 6pm and 2am on Friday.

And people in Ringwood could see snow at 9pm and sleet at 2am.

In Wareham, sleet is likely at 10pm followed by heavy showers.

Those staying up late tonight in the Shaftesbury area were earlier this evening predicted to see heavy snow at around 2am.

However, just an hour later, forecasters downgraded their prediction to sleet, with residents waking up to cloudy skies forecast from 6am tomorrow.
