Here is everything you need to know about Christmas rubbish and recycling collections across Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset this year.

Bournemouth

There will be no collections of rubbish or recycling on Boxing Day - Monday 26 December.

There will be reduced rubbish collections on the Bank Holiday- Tuesday 27 December.

The council will be running catch-up collections from Wednesday, December 28 to Saturday, December 31.

All residents are asked to leave their bin out from 5am until 8pm (or until it is collected) on their collection dates as bin men will working into the evenings.

For recycling, all week one households (if your collection would usually fall between Monday 26 and Friday, December 30) will be collected a day later than usual. If your normal recycling collection day is a Wednesday, it will be collected on the Thursday and if you are a Friday, it will be collected on Saturday, December 31.

For rubbish, all of Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 missed collections will be collected between Wednesday 28 and Saturday 31 December.

If your collection is affected, you can check when your rubbish is scheduled for a catch up collection: Check for rescheduled Christmas Waste Collection Date.

If you’re affected by the Monday or Tuesday missed rubbish collections, you can put two extra bags out on your next collection.

But remember not to put extra rubbish bags out before your collection day as these can attract vermin and cause a mess.

Poole

All bin collection services will operate as normal up to and including Friday, December 23.

There will be no collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Bank Holiday Monday, January 2.

As a result, all collection days will move one day later than normal to make sure households continue to receive a fortnightly service.

Collection dates will return to normal as of Monday, January 9.

Check your collection schedule here.

Make sure your bin is out by 6am on your collection day.

Bin men will take extra recycling with your first collection after Christmas. Please do not put additional cardboard recycling out until the day of collection to avoid it getting wet.

There are some changes to the collections for the rest of Dorset as well.
