THE seventh annual Great Santa Fun Run in aid of charity will take place once again this year.

Runners dressed as Father Christmas will dash round the Badbury Rings point-to-point course on Sunday, December 13 during the popular event, hosted by members of Wimborne Rotary.

And anyone wishing to take part is warmly invited to enter the race and raise money for a good cause.

The run will begin at 11am, and a warm-up session will take place at 10.30am.

Participants can run or walk a course of either two or four miles to raise money for a charity of their choice.

Dogs are also welcome to take part.

The entry fee is £10, or £6 for children aged eight to 14, to include a Santa suit to keep and a donation to Ferndown-based organisation, the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

The foundation was launched in 2008 to honour the memory of Royal Marine John Thornton, who was killed at the age of 22 while serving in Afghanistan.

Run by John's parents, the charity supports young people living in Dorset, providing them with scholarships and bursaries.

Rotary Club president Alan Griffiths said, “Our annual Santa Fun Run is now firmly established in the Wimborne festive calendar.

"We can accept entries up to the day and aim to add to the £40,000 raised for good causes over the past six years."
