A FESTIVE celebration event in aid of Lewis-Manning Hospice is being held in Ashley Cross this month.

Christmas in the Park has been organised by Jane Jones PR and Events, to take place on Sunday, December 21, at Ashley Cross with support from Poole Chamber of Trade and Commerce, Ashley Cross Traders and Poole Bay Satellite Club.

The event, which is being sponsored by Aspray Estate Agents will offer a host of entertainment for families from 2pm to 9pm.

Jane Jones, the event’s organiser, said: “With a festive Gluwein bar, roasted chestnuts, wood-fired pizzas and a large snow dome, this leafy little park will be offering a rare treat for residents.”

The "snow dome" is a large inflatable dome filled with golden and silver tickets. The aim of the game is to grab as many tickets as you can that will be falling like snowflakes inside the dome. Golden tickets are worth one point, silver tickets minus one point.

When time is up, the contestants' tickets are totted up and the score they get will determine the prize they receive. (To those of a certain age, think Crystal Maze....)

Organising the snow dome is Dan Solen, an events manager from Get Out the Office. He said: “It will be a really fun Christmas activity for the kids to get involved with. They love the challenge of trying to grab as many golden tickets as possible.

“It gets quite competitive!”

There will be deals running for families wanting to have a go in the dome and no booking is required.

Santa is also set to make a special appearance, and children from a local performing arts school will be singing carols.

Lewis-Manning Hospice, which is based on Crichel Mount Road in Lilliput, supports people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
