He’s behind you! Oh no he isn’t! Oh yes he is! It’s panto season again, and there are a host of performances across Dorset to keep the whole family entertained.

1. Peter Pan: Bournemouth Pavilion, December 6 to January 4

Children’s favourite and Blue Peter presenter Barney Harwood will be playing Peter Pan, and he is no stranger to pantomime having played the part several times previously including at the Pavilion in 2008.

Mark Benton, of Waterloo Road and 2013 Strictly Come Dancing fame, will be starring as Captain Hook in this year’s Pavilion pantomime, while Wave 105 presenter Kate Weston takes on the role of Mrs Darling.

2. Robin Hood: Lighthouse Poole, December 5 to January 4

Adventure, laughs and magical surprises galore are promised with Lighthouse’s production of Robin Hood.

CBBC’s Ed Petrie takes on the role of Robin, following his 2011 panto appearance in Cinderella.

Ed is joined by Tom Bright as Friar Tuck, who also writes and directs the Lighthouse panto for the third year running, while the role of the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham will be played by Game of Thrones actor Patrick O’Kane).

3. Aladdin: Weymouth Pavilion, December 11 to January 4

Ron Martin Management and Born2Perform are back to Weymouth Pavilion with a magical production of Aladdin, telling the tale of a poor young boy in Old Peking, whose life sets to change when his long lost uncle Abanazar promises him riches beyond his wildest dreams.

4. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Tivoli Theatre, Wimborne, December 19 to January 3

Following the success of Aladdin in 2013, Ron Martin Management and Born2Perform will be bringing Snow White to the Tivoli.

Brotherhood of Man’s Nicky Stevens, is taking on the role of the wicked queen, while special guest star Bobby Bennett, who last year took the part of Widow Twankey, is playing the nurse.

5. Cinderella: Mowlem Theatre, Swanage, January 9, 10, 16 and 17

Swanage Drama Company is back with its annual pantomime, telling the well-loved tale of Cinderella and her nasty step-sisters Sam and Ella, written and performed by Swanage Drama Company.

6. Robin Hood: Regent Centre, Christchurch, January 17 to 24

The award winning Highcliffe Charity Players return to the Regent Centre with their New Year family panto Robin Hood. Follow his battles with the evil Sheriff of Nottingham to free the land from tyranny, aided by his Merry Men.
