YOUNG people are being sought to become ambassadors for apprenticeships.

Superior Apprenticeship Academy is to launch a new Young Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (YAAN).

The academy, run by Ferndown-based O-ring and seal manufacturer Superior, will unveil the initiative on Wednesday, March 7, during National Apprenticeship Week

It is looking for current or former apprentices who would like to be young apprenticeship ambassadors to join the event.

Its own ambassadors – Tom Vincent, 20, Jamie Arnold, 22, and James Rowe, 22 – will be joined at the event by other ambassadors from local businesses.

The South East, Dorset and Solent ambassador network will be headed by Ben Clarke, an ex-apprentice who is now a senior manager at Superior.

The company was asked by the National Apprenticeship Service to launch and govern the network.

Ambassadors will visit schools and careers fairs and speak at events about their experience as apprentices.

Mr Clarke said: “The Dorset and Solent YAAN is a fantastic opportunity for any current or former apprentices that are advocates of apprenticeships and would like to become a young ambassador. I’m proud to help champion and promote apprenticeships with young people and local stakeholders.

“We are actively looking for Young Apprentice Ambassadors to join the network so if you think you would like to become an ambassador, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me directly.”
