HALLOWEEN has become the number one night out in Bournemouth, according to a nightclub operator which saw record numbers through its doors.

Cameo, on Fir Vale Road, attracted 11 per cent more customers through its doors on Halloween week, with almost 10,000 clubber turning out.

The club is owned by the Deltic Group, which operates 57 bars and clubs across the UK.

On the Saturday that week, admissions across the company’s venues were up by 2.3 per cent to 90,598 people.

Deltic’s regional operations director, Ged Gorrie, said: “Cameo is the town’s largest club and every year Halloween grows in popularity to secure its spot as the biggest event in the late night sector’s calendar.”

Research for Deltic’s Night Index suggests 40 per cent of 18-21-year-olds dress up for a Halloween night out, while 41 per cent say music and entertainment is a key part of their celebrations. The quarterly report is produced in association with Censuswide, surveying more than 2,000 adults including a minimum of 500 aged 18-21.

A night out is defined as a trip out where the majority of the time is spent out past 10pm.

Deltic recently reported a 9.1 per cent rise in like-for-like sales to £16.4m between September 17 and October 31, driven by the freshers period and Halloween.
