A FOUR-year-old business in the ‘fintech’ sector has been recognised as one of the UK’s fastest-growing technology firms.

Bournemouth-based Ratio made the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 at number 92 – and was the only local company on the list.

The business started in 2013, building price comparison software for personal finance sites.

It grew to launch its own site, Choose Wisely, which compares credit and banking services for the estimated 10 million people whose credit scores make it difficult for them to access banking, monthly household utility accounts or credit from mainstream providers.

Ratio has also created artificial intelligence tools for ecommerce websites and run a gentlemen’s underwear subscription service.

The ranking in the Tech Trak 100 coincides with the launch of Ratio’s new HQ at Telephone House at the Lansdowne.

Chief executive Marc Biles said: ‘Congratulations to the Ratio team. It’s a huge honour to be included in this year’s Tech Track 100. It’s their hard work, dedication and ability to consistently make our sites and software work harder and smarter for our customers that’s led to this success.’

Ratio’s inclusion in this year’s Tech Track 100 neatly coincides with the launch of its new HQ at Telephone House in the heart of Bournemouth’s new business district at the Lansdowne.

Mr Biles added: “It’s especially pleasing that this award comes at a time when we’re settling into our new offices. The new Ratio HQ is one of the south’s premier technology facilities and it’s great that we’re going to have some new shiny silverware to add to the collection.”

Mr Biles and co-founder Tara Flynn will be at the annual Tech Track 100 awards dinner on November 7 at the Brewery in London to accept their award.
