UNEMPLOYED people in Dorset with health conditions will be given more support to get back into employment thanks to a new programme.

Employment, skills and rehabilitation provider Working Links is expanding its support in the region after landing the new Department for Work and Pensions European Social Fund programme to help people on Employment and Support Allowance.

The three-year voluntary programme will start in November and build on the organisation’s successful work, and that of its partners, in the region.

Working Links, which has supported more than 300,000 people into work over the last 16 years, will be working with a range of partners, including voluntary organisations, to deliver the programme.

Working Links chief executive Phil Andrew said: “This is great news for the people of Dorset.

“Our support has proved vital to so many people in the region over the last 16 years and we’re delighted this new contract will allow us to continue that work.

“The programme will see us supporting customers into work that have a range of barriers and require intensive or health-related support.

“And we know from experience that we can deliver real outcomes for people with multiple and complex barriers, particularly when we join up with holistic community-based services.”
