A MANUFACTURER has reported record turnover and a 19 per cent increase in staff.

Aish Technologies, a systems design and manufacturing company, saw staff numbers reach 220 at the close of its financial year in November 2015.

The company, at Broom Road, Poole, designs, manufactures and supports products used in ships, submarines, radar, communications and electronic systems.

It specialises in providing cabinets and command consoles that protect electronic equipment in harsh environments. It has recently provided displays and consoles to the Royal Navy.

Turnover was £18.7million, up 30 per cent on the previous year.

Sales and marketing director John Atkins said the success was down to a combination of factors, including sticking to markets the company knows well.

He said: “We have been very focussed on concentrating our sales efforts within the defence and marine sectors. This includes working on a number of projects supporting the UK Navy, including providing ruggedised communications equipment for the Astute and Vanguard submarines.

“We are also active in overseas markets, with the company exporting corrosion protection systems to Korean company Daewoo Shipbuilding.”

He added: “We have a dedicated and extremely professional team here at Aish, many of whom have been with us for a long time. The experience and skill set we have across the business enables us to deliver projects consistently and to the extremely high standard required by our customers.“In 2016, we are committed to not only satisfying but exceeding our customer’s expectations, and continuing to develop our team.”

Aish has also been involved in Bloodhound SSC – the hi-tech project to design and build a car to break the 1,000mph barrier and set a new world land speed record.

All the car- and driver-monitoring equipment will be housed in consoles supplied by Aish.

Aish was formed around the turn of the 20th century and initially focused on shore-based electrical switch gear and sub-stations, before gaining a reputation for naval control panels, transformers and wiring looms.
