THE renovation of Wareham's former magistrates' courts into a high-tech manufacturing and administration base for international firm Biotrack Ltd is finished.

This £540,000 modernisation, completed in six months by Dorset builders Greendale Construction Ltd, involved the conversion of two former court rooms by adding a mezzanine floor.

Biotrack Ltd is a radio tracking and radio tag company. The firm's managing director Brian Cresswell said: "Greendale Construction were a pleasure to work with throughout this project and did a fantastic job turning this eyesore of a building into a wonderful new workplace for everyone at Biotrack."

The revamped building includes production and engineering facilities, a staff room, stores, two-storey office accommodation and modernised wash rooms.

Greendale Construction director Rob Hooker said: "It was great to transform the rather run down and unloved court building into a new state-of-the-art facility for Biotrack Ltd.

"Our work has given the building a new lease of life and we wish Biotrack every success at this new site.

"It was a very enjoyable and collaborative project, and the end result is a worthwhile and terrific transformation which we hope will serve Biotrack for many years to come."

Biotrack Ltd is a leader in the manufacturing of radio tags and radio tracking for animals, having produced more than 100,000 tags for more than 1,000 species since 1990.

The company currently has an output of 10,000 tags per year supplied to more than 110 countries.

A Greendale spokesman explained: "Externally, the building has received modern cladding treatment with coloured weatherboarding on insulation backing at first floor level, insulated renders on the ground floor, and a complete coloured aluminium window and door replacement, bringing the building fabric forward to current standards."
