A GROUP OF computer developers took part in a fun event on Saturday themed around the film Back to the Future.

Held at 3 Sided Cube, off Poole Road, Hack to the Future aimed to bring together digital creatives to have a go at making an idea from the past, the future or themed around the film.

They worked together in teams to make their plans into a reality over the space of several hours and took inspiration from a real life working DeLorean, the car which featured in the film, which had been brought over from the Isle of Wight for the event.

Jonathan Ginn, developer evangellist from We Are Base Ltd, one of three sponsors of the event along with Etch and Moov2, said that he has been organising events of this type for around two-years for like-minded people to join in with.

He said: "We started thinking about this event six months ago and just wanted to create a really fun day to tie in with the day that Marty McFly goes back to the future, which is on October 21, 2015.

"A hackday is an excuse to for developers and hardware people to break some technology and make some technology. We had people making robots, Apple TV, websites and apps with a general focus on digital technology.

"We had about 40 people which was a nice turnout. This is the first event of its kind and it's all good things involving good fun."

Jonathan said that the end of the day-long event the teams would present what they had created and awards would be presented to best, craziest and silliest ideas focusing on time travel.
