INTERNATIONAL infrastructure and business group Mouchel hosted its national recruitment drive for 600 jobs in Bournemouth.

Held at the Best Western Hotel Royale, the event was part of Mouchel’s national campaign to employ 600 engineers and consultants by the end of the year, to help it expand to the UK and abroad.

Experienced managers and technical staff were on-hand to provide information and answer questions on the broad range of opportunities available.

Mouchel runs several Bournemouth Borough Council departments.

Mouchel partnership director for Bournemouth, Dale Wood, said: “We are creating local jobs and opportunities in the town, as part of our partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council. As a result of this commitment, we have already generated almost 160 local jobs.

“This is an exciting time to be working in this area, with large infrastructure schemes to get involved with and an increasingly varied work load in all aspects of engineering.”

Mouchel provides advisory, design, project delivery and managed services for infrastructure projects in highways, transportation and water, employing thousands of people with specialist and diverse skills – from civil engineers to environmental planners and ecologists.

Simon Lewin, Mouchel business unit director, added: “Mouchel is a great place to be, we have just beaten off strong competition to win NCE/ACE Major UK Consultant of the Year 2015 and we are growing. We want to meet people at all stages in their career from technician, apprentices and graduates through to Chartered team leaders in highways design and highway structures as well as water and wastewater engineers.”

Mouchel has been working on a range of additional initiatives for recruitment in Bournemouth, including the South West Shared Apprenticeship Scheme, which it says will create jobs for young people.
