NATIONWIDE Building Society is to create around 100 jobs in Bournemouth.

The posts at its Richmond Hill administration centre will be generated as a result of its video link service which connects customers in branches with financial consultants.

The service, Nationwide Now, will create 200 jobs across the country as it expands from the current 61 branches to around 400 by November.

Initially piloted with mortgage consultants, the Nationwide Now service is being expanded to cover other roles such as financial planning managers and personal banking managers.

The mutual says 94 per cent of customers reported being ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ satisfied.

It says customers can speak to advisers on more dates and times than they could when advisers toured local branches to offer appointments.

Bournemouth will be the main centre benefiting from the move, with Dunfermline gaining around 80 jobs and Northampton around 20.

Mark Goldman, divisional director of central distribution at Nationwide Building Society, said: “Nationwide Now is going from strength-to-strength and as we roll it out to more branches we will be recruiting more people to meet the demand.

“At Nationwide we believe that a vital part of serving our members is providing access to our consultants and products in their community when it best suits them.

“Our investment in Nationwide Now is a great example of how we’re using technology to achieve this.

“Nationwide Now has been so well received we’ll be increasing the range of services meaning branches will be able to offer more to our customers.

“These are exciting times and we’re urging people who think they have what it takes to join us as we continue to focus on using digital to make customers’ lives easier and to increase access to our advisers.”
