SOME of the world’s most innovative gadgetry could be on its way to Dorset after a local company visited the giant Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Representatives from Poole-based business The Laptop Fixers were at the event to find the most ingenious inventions.

They found drones and unmanned vehicles, controlled by smartphones or remote controls, were among the most prevalent inventions.

3D printers had a strong presence alongside the latest tablets and smartphones. Gadgets for smartphones were also popular, including the key ring mobile phone charger.

Among the attractions at CES was a dedicated robotics area.

Innovations there included: robots to clean windows, floors and barbecue grills; a self-driving car, which had taken itself to the event; another, ‘uncrashable’, car; and a 105-inch television that went from curved to flat at the press of a button.

There was a wide variety of tech for gamers, including PC gaming components such as open-sided cases, cooling systems, mice, keyboards and accessories.

Paul Betteridge, managing director of The Laptop Fixers, said: “It was an incredible experience to attend this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

“To witness first-hand the very latest and most innovative technology the world has to offer was a great privilege.

“Inspired by CES we now have a variety of new projects and products in mind that we will be bringing to Dorset in the very near future.

“We will be providing our customers with the latest technical innovations before they become available through the major national chains.”
