POOLE MP Robert Syms joined the ground-breaking ceremony for a development of luxury apartments for the over-55s at Canford Cliffs.

Azaleas, a block of 20 apartments with 10 gardens, are from Ortus Homes, a new concept from Bournemouth-based McCarthy & Stone.

Mr Syms said: “Living independently and securely is so important, especially for those wishing to downsize and enjoy the added benefits of living in such a sought-after and stunning location.

“With an increasingly older, healthier population living longer, it is great to see exciting ventures like this in Poole.

“This sort of concept has the potential to benefit the communities here for years to come.”

Gary Day, land and planning director for Ortus Homes, said: “Each of our developments benefit from our extensive experience in the field of specially-designed homes for the over-55s, making Ortus Homes unique in the delivery of this form of exclusive housing for those who are looking to downsize from their existing property.”

The apartments feature Italian-inspired architecture and some have continental-style balconies.

Ortus Homes are already at Compton Acres, Swanage, Chichester and Solihull.
