DACOMBE & Renaut and Brian Dryden of Wimborne are set to merge in a deal between the two family businesses that have more than 130 years of trading history in the town.

Brian and Pat Dryden are set to retire and will close their shop on The Square. Dacombe & Renaut will take over their business from the beginning of November.

Dacombe & Renaut will continue to run their business from their current West Street store, but are soon to reopen their Cornmarket store, which is situated just off The Square.

The newly-refurbished Cornmarket store will offer everything Brian’s store was known for, including fires, toasters, kettles, irons, vacuum cleaners, bulbs, batteries and small kitchen appliances.

“We aim to continue where Brian has left off, as one of the largest stockists of small domestic appliances in the area,” said director Matt Renaut.

“Our current West Street store will continue to sell televisions, audio, washing machines, refrigeration and all of the larger kitchen appliances and home entertainment we are known for,” added manager Steven Rowland.

Brian and Pat Dryden will close their store for the last time on October 31 and their staff will relocate to the Dacombe & Renaut stores from the beginning of November.

“Our relocation of Brian’s business and our membership of Euronics, Europe’s largest electrical buying group, will give us a greater buying power, allowing us to compete with the internet and other large high street stores,” added Matt.

Dacombe & Renaut will unveil their new Cornmarket store with a grand opening by the Mayor of Wimborne on Saturday, November 8.
