TWO entrepreneurs have launched an app designed to help job-hunters write their CVs.

Craig Stovold and Will Martin, both from the New Forest, have been working on Jobulo for more than three years.

It is a free-to-use, web-based app which guides users through the steps involved with creating a successful CV.

Will Martin said: “We had been running a successful CV creation tool named CV Surgeon since 2010, which worked on a pay to download model.

“Although we offered a fantastic service, the paid nature of our business model made it very difficult to enthusiastically promote it in the unemployment sector. We had a number of employment charities and colleges approach us asking if we might waive our fees for their members, a request we had to decline.

“We both agreed that it was time for a complete shift in payment model, both in the interests of our business and also the unemployment sector.

“We began building Jobulo with a clear mission statement: users should be able to create a CV, in a variety of templates, without investing anything more than their time.”

The app comes with premium features – such as unlocking new templates or publishing online – which the user can access for a monthly fee.

“However, these are purely for those who want to invest money into their job search,” said Mr Martin. “You can create and edit as many CVs as you like without subscribing to the professional package."

He added: “We’ve spoken with unemployed people living in Bournemouth and the New Forest who find it difficult to write a CV and grab an employer’s attention and we’re hoping Jobulo can help these people take that crucial first step to securing employment.

“We have also spoken to local job centres, universities and colleges who are all inundated with people looking for CV and career advice and there is definitely a demand for more resources in this area.”
