MORE than 100 would-be apprentices seeking a start in the construction industry attended an event in Poole.

The recruitment drive at Lighthouse was organised by Spectrum in conjunction with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and Bournemouth & Poole College.

A total of 76 attending applied for one of eight apprenticeships with Spectrum Property Care, the repairs and maintenance subsidiary of Spectrum House Group.

The candidates could chat with managers and former apprentices, hear presentations and find out about industry qualifications.

Darryl Griffiths, apprenticeships officer for CITB said: “It was an excellent event and the turnout was much higher than many career events I attend in the region.

“It shows that construction as a career is still a popular choice and the quality of applicants on the night gives reassurance for the future of the industry.”

Paul Bryan, MD of Spectrum Property Care said: “The event was a huge success. Recruiting top performing apprentices is key to the future success of our business and we were impressed by the enthusiasm and personal drive displayed by the people we talked to.”

All successful potential apprentices will be invited to an assessment day in Christchurch in August.

Applications can still be submitted until July 31. email joanne.billing hurst@spectrumhousin g.co.uk Visit the website spectrumpropertycare.co.uk
