HIGHWAYS AGENCY - THE A31 TRUNK ROAD
THE A31 TRUNK ROAD PICKET POST INTERCHANGE & RINGWOOD INTERCHANGE TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT SLIP ROAD CLOSURES Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has made an Order on the A31 Trunk Road, near Ringwood in the County of Hampshire, under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is to authorise the overnight closure of the following slip roads: (a) the road leading to the eastbound carriageway of the A31 at Picket Post Interchange; and (b) the road leading from the westbound carriageway of the A31 at Ringwood Interchange (A338/B3347). These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake carriageway repairs and all associated works. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 4 nights (2 nights for each slip road) over a 3 month period starting on or after Monday 12 March 2012 between 22:00 and 05:30 on Monday – Thursday nights, 22:30 and 05:30 on Friday night, 22:00 and 06:00 on Saturday night and 22:30 and 05:30 on Sunday night. The Order will come into force on 10 March 2012 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months. During the closure outlined at (a) above, traffic affected will be diverted west on the A31 to Ringwood Interchange (A338/B3347) and return east on the A31 to Picket Post Interchange. During the closure at (b) above, traffic affected will be diverted to continue west on the A31 to Ashley Heath Interchange (A338) and return east on the A31 to Ringwood Interchange (A338/B3347). The slip road closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods. Ref: HA/SE/2011/A31/273 THE A31 TRUNK ROAD VERWOOD INTERCHANGE – BERE REGIS ROUNDABOUT TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport has made an Order on the A31 Trunk Road, in the County of Dorset, under section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is – (a) to impose an overnight temporary mandatory 40mph speed restriction on lengths of the following (where the permanent speed limit is greater than 40mph) - (i) the westbound carriageway of the A31 between a point 11 metres west of the centreline of King Stream underbridge at Verwood Interchange (B3081) and its junction with the A35 at Bere Regis roundabout, and (ii) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between its junction with the A35 at Bere Regis roundabout and a point 10 metres west of the centreline of King Stream underbridge at Verwood Interchange (B3081); at certain stages of the work, an overnight temporary mandatory 10mph speed restriction will be imposed on lengths of these carriageways while traffic is escorted through the works area by a convoy system; (b) to authorise the overnight closure of the following lay-bys/bus lay-bys adjacent to – (i) the westbound carriageway of the A31 between points 357 metres and 174 metres east of the centre of Woolsbridge roundabout, between points 85 metres and 127 metres west of the centre of Woolsbridge roundabout, between points 143 metres and 60 metres east of the centre of Boundary Lane roundabout, between points 32 metres and 232 metres west of the centre of Boundary Lane roundabout, between points 385 metres and 514 metres west of the centre of Boundary Lane roundabout, between points 185 metres and 93 metres east of the centre of Azalea roundabout, between points 204 metres and 165 metres east of the centre of Palmersford roundabout, between points 870 metres and 969 metres west of the centre of Canford Bottom roundabout (B3073), between points 781 metres and 882 metres west of the centre of Merley roundabout (A349 – Gravel Hill) near Oakley, between points 385 metres and 532 metres west of the centre of Candys Lane and between points 40 metres and 98 metres west of the centre of “The Botany Bay” Public House at Winterborne Zelston, and (ii) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between points 415 metres and 569 metres of the centre of Bere Regis roundabout (A35), between points 11 metres and 63 metres east of the centre of The Street at Winterborne Zelston, between points 271 metres and 412 metres east of the centre of Blandford Road (B3074), between points 604 metres and 693 metres east of the centre of Lake Gates roundabout (B3078 – Julian’s Road), between points 310 metres and 407 metres east of the centre of Merley roundabout (A349 – Gravel Hill) at Oakley, between points 381 metres and 418 metres east of the centre of Palmersford roundabout, between points 143 metres and 60 metres west of the centre of Azalea roundabout, between points 381 metres and 404 metres east of the centre of Azalea roundabout, between points 530 metres and 633 metres east of the centre of Azalea roundabout, between points 57 metres and 26 metres west of the centre of Boundary Lane roundabout, between points 11 metres and 118 metres east of the centre of Oaks Drive at St Leonards, between points 9 metres and 158 metres east of the centre of Braeside Road at St Leonards and between points 240 metres and 461 metres east of the centre of Woolsbridge roundabout. These measures are in the interest of road safety while contractors undertake essential carriageway repairs and all associated work. It is expected that the work will take place periodically over a 12 month period starting on or after Monday 12 March 2012 at the following times: Monday – Thursday nights 22:00 – 05:00 Friday nights 23:00 – 06:00 Saturday nights 22:00 – 07:00 Sunday nights 23:00 – 05:00 The Order will come into force on 12 March 2012 and have a maximum duration of twelve months. The temporary mandatory speed restrictions, lay-by closures and bus stop lay-by closures will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods.
