CAMPAIGNERS are appealing for residents to support a proposed wind farm in Purbeck.
Members of an environmental action team will be taking to the streets of Wareham and Swanage ‘in the coming weeks’ to encourage people to back the four-turbine scheme at Masters Quarry, East Stoke.
Six members of Purbeck Environment Action Team (PEAT) recently collected more than 200 letters of support in Wareham.
PEAT member Andrew Butler said wind energy fits perfectly with PEAT’s vision for a sustainable future for Purbeck.
Mr Butler, who lives in east Lulworth, said: “Wind energy is the most viable option available to us at the moment – it’s truly sustainable, it doesn’t pollute and will never run out.”
Residents have until Thursday, March 11 to take part in a public consultation on the proposed scheme.
Full details of the planning application can be viewed at the council officers or online at www.purbeck.gov.uk
