VIVIAN RONALD HARRY JOHN 1921 - 2007 Ron passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord, with much dignity, after a short illness bravely borne. A true Bournemouth man, a loyal supporter of the Cherries since 1927 he worked for many years at the Bournemouth Echo as a linotype operator and latterly as a reader until retirement when he and his late wife, Dorothy, moved to Tenerife and enjoyed twelve happy years together there. On losing Dorothy after 56 years of married life together he moved back to Southbourne and has lived happily with his eldest daughter Rosemary in Tuckton. He was a much loved and respected father to Rosemary, Evan, Lesley, Jonathan and Louise and a devoted and treasured grandfather to their families. A lay preacher, his Christian values and example of tolerance, hope and forgiveness will live with us all as a family for the rest of our days. Thank you Dad and Granddad for so many happy memories and for being such a support and encouragement over so many years. A service of thanksgiving and celebration of Ron's life will take place at Drummond Hall, Drummond Road, Boscombe on Friday 4th of January at 12.30 pm with a private interment afterward. All who know Ron are most welcome to attend and share this time with us as a family. Family flowers only but any gifts in memory of Ron can be to either "Bibles to persecuted Christians" or "Water Aid" and forwarded to Harry Tomes Funeral Directors, 31 Tower Road, Bournemouth (01202) 394340 where any enquiries should be directed.
