BOSS Tim Brown was left frustrated after Swanage Town & Herston were defeated 3-1 by Westland Sports in the Dorset Premier League.

Goals from Leo Hayward and Jamie Irwin put the visitors in the driving seat with Matt Beard halving the deficit for Swans after the interval.

Louis Irwin restored Westland’s two-goal cushion on 71 minutes and Swans' misery was compounded by defender Mark Gregory’s late red card.

“We didn’t start well and our shape was all over the place,” said Brown. “We improved in the second half but were always chasing the game.

“We lost Sam Beale and Richard Best to injury and perhaps that disrupted us a bit, although there was enough quality in our squad to cover those losses.

“This defeat is a massive wake-up call. Maybe it was something we needed after winning our opening game 6-0 and going forward, the loss will, hopefully, benefit us.”

Holt United maintained their 100 per cent record with a 3-0 win over Blandford United, a double from Nathan Saxby and a goal from Tom Gagan securing victory.

Hamworthy Recreation succumbed to their first defeat of the campaign, losing 2-1 at Balti Sports. Mark Smith netted for Hamworthy.

Elsewhere, 10-man Merley held on to beat Sturminster Newton 2-1. Jamie Moores headed Merley in front and early in the second period, Pete Pritchard doubled the lead.

Moores received a straight red for kicking out at an opponent before Neal Sweetman netted Newton's consolation.

Wareham trailed 1-0 at half-time to visitors Sherborne Town reserves but following the resumption, substitute Josh Hewson and Lee Phibbs handed the home side victory.

Matt Newbery scored twice in Parley Sports's 3-2 loss at Mere Town. Parley's Adam Trimby was dismissed just before the break with his team 2-1 ahead.
