CALLUM Wilson struck twice as Cherries kicked off their pre-season schedule with a 4-0 win over Minnesota United at National Sports Center.

A bizarre own goal by Loons keeper Sammy Ndjock and a late strike from Lewis Grabban completed the scoring, the latter effort coming after Max Gradel and Minnesota's Damion Lowe had been sent off.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe made a late change to his starting line-up with defender Baily Cargill replacing Steve Cook due to an injury in the warm-up, while summer signings Jordon Ibe, Lys Mousset and Lewis Cook all started.

In front of a crowd of more than 8,000, Cherries began brightly and Wilson had the ball in the net in the 12th minute, only to be thwarted by the offside flag.

As the sweltering temperature tested both teams, Ismaila Jome came agonisingly close to putting Minnesota in front when his stunning strike came off the crossbar and post.

Cherries seized control midway through the first period when Charlie Daniels's cross from the left was controlled and tapped home by Wilson.

Cameroon international Ndjock then had a moment to forget when he inexplicably hurled the ball into his own net when there was seemingly no danger.

Wilson soon doubled his personal tally, pouncing to slot home after Harry Arter slammed against the woodwork.

Ibe cleared the bar with a free-kick and Daniels shot over, before Pugh's strike found traffic.

Both sides made wholesale changes for the second period and Cherries stopper Adam Federici was soon called upon to tip Lance Laing's long-range effort behind.

Federici also saved well from frontman JC Banks and in between Gradel was denied by Steward Ceus, who was on for Ndjock.

Gradel and Lowe were then red-carded for the incident that followed a strong challenge by the United defender on the Ivorian.

Federici again kept out Laing before Grabban pounced on a mistake by Ceus and fired home to complete the rout.
