BOSS Tom Killick could ditch his quest for a traditional striker and concentrate on boosting Poole Town’s firepower from other areas after missing out on ex-Sholing hotshot Lee Wort.

The long-time Dolphins target, 22, penned contract terms with Conference South club Gosport Borough over the weekend after nothing came of his two-week trial at League Two club Accrington Stanley.

It was another setback for Killick, whose seven-day approach for Weymouth striker Conor Jevon could also come to nothing following tentative discussions with the youngster.

But having been impressed by Cherries loanee Josh O’Hanlon’s debut at Banbury United on Saturday, the Poole boss may now look to add goals from support roles rather than disrupt the shape of his side.

Killick told the Daily Echo: “Josh was exceptional on Saturday and if I bring in another target man I would have to change the way we play. We might look at something a bit different.”

On the failed bid for Wort, Killick added: “Lee has ambitions to play as high as possible and none of the conversations I had with him were about money.

“He just felt playing at a higher level with Gosport would be more beneficial to him and I totally respect that.”

Lewis Tallack (ankle) and Marvin Brooks are slight doubts for tomorrow’s trip to Hungerford Town (7.45pm) but Killick hopes to have full-back Keith Emmerson available.

Ex-Cherries defender Lewis Lindsay was last night set to sign first-team forms with Poole.
