HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 0 CHERRIES 4

Emphatic.

4:55pm

Stoic defending to the last, O'Kane with a last-ditch block at the near post.

4:51pm

For Cherries on 90 minutes: Junior Stanislas replaces Marc Pugh.

4:50pm

Some lovely passing from Cherries to round off a resounding victory.

4:49pm

And a third corner...

4:49pm

Short to O'Kane, blocked, another corner.

4:48pm

Cherries have a corner with three minutes left.

4:47pm

We've just been told this is the first time since 1932 that Cherries have scored four goals away from home on the opening day of the Football League season.

*Reaches for the record books*

4:43pm

Double change for Cherries on 82 minutes.

Callum Wilson and Yann Kermorgant replaced by Dan Gosling and Tokelo Rantie.

4:40pm

Alex Smithies (Huddersfield Town) 76 minutes.

For the foul on Wilson.

The Cherries striker was one-on-one but was running slightly wide. Had the match been tighter, referee Scott Duncan may have dished out a red.

4:38pm

Kermorgant hands Wilson his chance of a hat-trick but it's a poor spot-kick which is comfortably saved by Smithies.

4:37pm

To Cherries.

Wilson pounces on Lynch's hesitant clearance, brought down by Smithies on 76 minutes.

4:33pm

"Four-nil up and we're top of the league..." Cherries fans in good voice.

Tempo has died down.

4:29pm

"Sacked in the morning..." Cherries fans taunt home manager Mark Robins.

4:28pm

Whether he scuffed it or not, Wilson's willing run made the move. Devastating break.

4:27pm

Cherries break forward from a corner, Ritchie scampers down the right and centres for Wilson who either fluffed his finish or was deliberately cute.

Either way, Smithies was deceived and the ball trickled through his grasp.

4:25pm

Huddersfield Town 0 Cherries 4

Callum Wilson (64)

4:25pm

Norwood's corner headed goalwards by Crooks, Camp tips over for a third corner.

Huddersfield's Crooks wins the header again but effort sails over.

4:23pm

Another corner to Huddersfield.

4:23pm

Wells with a driving run at the Cherries backline, combination of Elphick and Francis cuts out danger at the expense of a corner.

4:22pm

Majewski's substitution met with cries of "You don't know what you're doing" by the home crowd.

4:20pm

4:19pm

Joe Lolley replaces Radoslaw Majewski for Huddersfield on 57 minutes.

Young striker was playing in the Midlands for Littleton in the equivaalent of Wessex League Division One just over a year ago.

4:16pm

Norwood's corner finds defender Lee Peltier to head at goal, awkward for Camp was gathers at the second attempt.

4:14pm

O'Kane's outswinging ball to the far post found the head of the unmarked Pugh at the far post.

Good save Smithies but Kermorgant reacted first to slot home.

Perfect way to stifle any prospect of a Huddersfield comeback. Another well executed goal.

Textbook away performance so far.

4:12pm

GOAL!

Huddersfield Town 0 Cherries 3

Yann Kermorgant (50)

4:10pm

For Huddersfield at half-time: Sean Scannell for Adam Hammill.

3:50pm

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 0 CHERRIES 2

Some snaps

3:43pm

Break from set piece, balls comes back to Ritchie on the right of his own half who tries to lob Smithies from distance. Bounces harmlessly wide.

3:42pm

Booked: Steve Cook (Cherries) 40 mins

Late tackle on Nahki Wells. Fair decision.

3:41pm

Long-range dipping effort from Norwood shakes Camp's crossbar.

3:40pm

Non-league updates: Bridgwater Town 2 Bashley 0

Poole Town's Carl Pettefer has been sent off at Banbury United, still 0-0.

3:38pm

Break by Huddersfield, Danny Ward finds some space on right, low drive easily handled by Camp.

3:35pm

Huddersfield Town 0 Cherries 2

Callum Wilson (33)

Clipped ball down the right channel, offside appeal fell on deaf ears , cut in from right wing, all alone to coolly tuck past the advancing Smithies.

Very composed.

3:33pm

Non-league updates: Merthyr Town 0 Wimborne Town 1 (Matt Kemble)

Bridgwater Town 1 Bashley 0

3:30pm

Rare Huddersfield attack, Hammill dinks in return ball for Ward which just evades his team-mate.

3:24pm

Wilson penalised for absolutely nothing.

Pace has died down, Cherries seeing less of the ball but still exerting control.

3:20pm

Great start by Cherries.

Arter here, there and everywhere, Pugh, very cool finish, great positioning and focus. Francis and Ritchie cominbing well down the right.

3:18pm

Callum Wilson peels into the right channel and wins the race to a ball way out wide. Huddersfield keeper Smithies comes out and gets caught but Wilson's angle was impossible.

Cross-shot cleared by covering defender.

3:13pm

Good build up down the right, Francis cuts back to Ritchie whose dipping 20-yard effort bounces just wide of the far post.

Home crowd growing a little restless.

3:12pm

Eddie Howe highlighted Huddersfield's 3-5-2 system and Cherries have exploited the space down the sides three times in the first eight minutes.

3:10pm

Dinked ball over the wing-back finds Pugh down the left again, he beats Crooks and clips the ball in for Arter to head wide at the far post.

3:07pm

Pugh's trickery draws a foul from Matt Crooks, free kick Cherries left of the area.

Overhit by Arter. Goal kick.

3:06pm

Quick move from the outset, Matt Ritchie rolls the ball in from the right for Pugh to neatly tuck past Smithies.

What a start.

3:04pm

The gaffer's thoughts

Boss Eddie Howe gave his view on last season's 5-1 defeat at Huddersfield, Cherries' progress since and today's opponents.

“That game is long gone,” said Howe. “But we will certainly use that experience and I think it stayed with us, as did the Watford game. But they were positives for us.

"We are both different teams now and I don’t think that game will have any bearing on this one. It would be nice to go there and give a good display to show we have moved on as a team and, hopefully, we can do that.

“It will be a tough game and no matter where we were this week, it was always going to be a very difficult game. It is the first day of the season, everyone wants to win and everyone is keen to get off to a good start, as we did last year.

“Huddersfield are a decent side. They have a unique system with the 3-5-2 formation and I don’t think they veer too far from that so it will be a difficult game but one that we are looking forward to.”

2:45pm

Team summary

Just the one debut for Cherries with Callum Wilson starting alongside Yann Kermorgant up front.

Dan Gosling and Junior Stanislas on the bench alongside Elliott Ward who has spent the summer recovering from knee surgery. Benji Buchel is the substitute keeper.

Huddersfield are without midfield talisman Adam Clayton, who according to a club statement released just before kick-off, is discussing a transfer elsewhere.

The Terriers are also without James Vaughan (calf), the scorer of three goals in this fixture last season.

2:39pm

Home comforts last season

The home side came out on top in both home fixtures last season. In August Cherries suffered a 5-1 thumping in Yorkshire with James Vaughan, absent today with a calf injury, bagging a hat-trick.

In January, Cherries gained revenge with a 2-1 success at a raain-soaked Dean Court.

Lewis Grabban’s second-half strike was quickly cancelled out by Calum Woods but Tokelo Rantie rattled in the winner.

2:30pm

Huddersfield has rarely been a happy hunting ground for Cherries

Cherries have only won once at Huddersfield in the past 21 years, Harry Arter’s solitary strike earning a memorable 1-0 victory against the promotion-hunting Terriers in December 2011.

It was a rare high in a largely forgettable campaign under Lee Bradbury while Huddersfield were promoted to the Championship via the play-offs.

Cherries have mustered just four wins in 22 visits to Huddersfield in the Football League, drawing 10 and losing eight.
