MUDEFORD’S Shane Watson will return to the ring on July 12 determined to make inroads into the British light-welterweight division.

The 29-year-old, a former Southern Area title challenger, will feature on the undercard of Gary Buckland’s Commonwealth title fight with Ghanaian Richard Commey at York Hall.

Watson, who recently inked a three-year deal with top London promoter and manager Steve Goodwin, originally turned professional in 2008.

After racking up eight straight victories, he lost on points to Lee Cook in a Southern Area bout.

Following a comeback win in 2010, Shane took a three- year sabbatical before securing a points win against Jamie Zaslos in November.

Watson has some tickets remaining for the sold-out show and anyone interested should contact him on 07903 128021.

The action starts at the early time of 4pm.

Watson’s bout will be one of many warm-up fights for an enthralling clash between former British champion Buckland and Commey – who has 17 wins from as many fights, all by knockout.

The Southern Area light-heavyweight title will be up for grabs when Miles Shinkwin (8-0) and Joel McIntyre (11-0) go toe-to-toe.

The Southern Area light-middleweight title is on the line when undefeated champion Freddie Turner (11-0) takes on Kris Agyei Dua.

Ex-Commonwealth champion Tony Conquest is also included alongside Danny Cassius Connor and former Prizefighter king Larry Ekundayo.
