WILLIAM Fox-Pitt is confident that Parklane Hawk is in good condition following his Badminton Horse Trials fall.

The mount of the Dorset star fell at the fourth last in Saturday’s cross country phase and was later diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat.

However, the condition corrected overnight and Fox-Pitt believes Parklane Hawk is now in fine fettle.

Writing on his website, Fox-Pitt said: “An atrial fibrillation is very uncommon and has no explanation, but could well be the reason he simply could not judge the fence he fell at.

“Happily overnight his condi- tion corrected itself, so he will now have a good holiday, hope- fully returning to work soon.”

Parklane Hawk had previously scored 41.5 points in Friday’s second dressage session, placing him seventh.

The other mount of the Great Britain international, Cool Mountain, was off the pace following the dressage and following discussions between Fox-Pitt and the horse’s owner, was pulled out of the competition.
